It’s Been a Whole Year!
We’ve been at Mayo this week for my regular follow-up scans (a whole year since my last checkup). These visits always come with a mix of gratitude, anxiety, and deep breath moments.
The good news: my PET scan didn’t show any signs of cancer recurrence, which is a huge relief.
However, there’s a lymph node on the left side of my neck that lit up slightly on the scan. It’s the same node that showed up last year and hasn’t changed much on the scan, which is somewhat comforting. That said, to be cautious, my oncologist ordered an ultrasound to get a better look. The ultrasound showed a few subtle changes in the node — enough that my care team wants to take an even closer look.
So this afternoon, I’m scheduled for a biopsy of that lymph node. It will most likely be nothing, but we’re taking the cautious and thorough path (as Mayo does so well).
Mayo is growing…the site of the new hospital.
